  • (**Intro**) We were already crowned... what more did we need?...

    (**Verse 1**)

Sunlight dripped like honey gold on perfect green

No shadow crossed the space between you and me

We walked beside the Source, complete, whole, free

Reflections of the Infinite, for all to see.

Shared the breath, the spark divine, beneath the endless blue...

But something sweet and dangerous began to bloom in you... in me too.

    (**Pre-Chorus 1**)

Not the knowing, not the seeing, not the power in our hand

But the itch to draw the circle, mark the line across the sand.

To point the finger, name the darkness, separate the wheat and chaff...

That was the poison in the fruit, the unforgivable gaffe.

    (**Chorus**)

Ooh, we were already LIKE HIM! Standing tall and unafraid! (Unafraid!)

But we craved the THRONE, the GAVEL, the division we made! (We made!)

Playing God, playing Judge, shouting "In!" and shouting "Out!" (Out!)

That's the ancient, bitter venom we can't seem to live without! (Without!)

Yeah, the Fall began the moment we decided who should FALL!

Playing God... Playing God... is the deadliest game of all!

    "Playing God! Ooh-ah! Playing God!"

    (**Verse 2**)

Flash forward through the ages, see the pattern never dies

In boardrooms and on battlefields, beneath accusing eyes.

We build our walls of "Righteous," label "Sinner," "Lost," and "Wrong,"

Humming that same old serpent's song, pretending we belong...

On that lonely bench of judgment, high above the common fray,

Deciding who gets light today, and who we cast away.

    (**Pre-Chorus 2**)

Not the wisdom, not the mercy, not the love that sets us free

But the need to be the arbiter, for all eternity!

To claim the right of condemnation, wear that heavy, crooked crown...

That pulls the whole world crashing, tearing paradise back down!

    (**Chorus**)

Ooh, we were already LIKE HIM! Standing tall and unafraid! (Yeah!)

But we craved the THRONE, the GAVEL, the division we made! (Division!)

Playing God, playing Judge, shouting "In!" and shouting "Out!" (Shouting out!)

That's the ancient, bitter venom we can't seem to live without! (Can't live without!)

Yeah, the Fall began the moment we decided who should FALL! (Who should fall?)

Playing God... Playing God... is the deadliest game of all!

    (**Post-Chorus**)

    "Playing God! Ooh-ah! Playing God!"

    (**Bridge**)

We weren't made to hold the gavel, weigh the scales of good and ill

That weight will crush the strongest soul, bend the firmest will.

The fruit wasn't just knowledge... it was pride's deceptive taste...

The need to separate and rank, leaving bitter aftertaste...

We were meant for connection, bathed in unconditional grace...

Not building walls of judgment in this sacred, broken space...

PUT DOWN THE CROWN! LET THE WALLS COME DOWN!

THE EDEN WE SEEK IS WHERE LOVE ABOUNDS!

    (**DROP**)

"Playing God!" "Who's in? Who's out?" "Fallin'!"

    (**Verse 3**)

Look around the digital garden, see the trees we curse and praise

The lines we draw so fiercely in these modern, fractured days.

We bite the fruit of outrage, point at shadows on the screen

Declaring who is worthy, who is vile, who is mean...

Still replaying Genesis with every tweet and every shout

Still desperate to be the one who figures "in" and "out".

    (**Verse 4**)

The hunger isn't knowledge, it's the power to divide

To stand above the messy crowd with nowhere left to hide.

To say "I have the answer, I can see what you cannot"

While building higher battlements on that self-appointed spot!

It fractures every family, turns neighbor into foe...

This ancient, toxic yearning that just will not let us go!

    (**Verse 5**)

The garden's gate is open, but we guard it with our hate

Demanding purity tests, sealing every other's fate.

We mimic God's perspective, but we lack the endless sight

We see the speck in others, blind to our own blight!

The core of our corruption, the original mistake...

Was grabbing for the judgment seat, for heaven's bloody sake!
